Toto was expanding its production facilities abroad, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as an opportunity to grow for Washlet toilets and bidet seats, in contrast to its "base" markets in Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto was documenting Toto words to ensure that the next generation could comprehend them. Many words were substituted with foreign words. For instance, dui, which is Bengali for verandah, was used.

    Origins

Incorporated in 1917, Toto's early years were a mirror of Japan's economic development. In the first half of its existence, the company manufactured goods to meet demand for modern, contemporary urban housing. It used the first tunnel kiln in the country that could produce ceramics continuously. It also pioneered the use of automation for production control, which helps to increase efficiency and consistency.

The company began expanding internationally in the late 1980s in order to profit from new markets and sales opportunities. It created the Cera Trading Company, importing and marketing other products from other manufacturers to complement its own lines of plumbing fittings and sanitary earthenware. This strategy helped increase sales and increased the firm's global market share.

In the late 1990s, Toto had shifted its emphasis on research and development of household appliances that are water-related. It also improved its distribution system to better meet the needs of its customers and boost profits. The company used the same just-in time approach in its supply chain management as well as sales program. This resulted in a greater degree of customer satisfaction.

Toto continues to invent toilet technology. The most recent toilet features a strong, eco-friendly tornado flush. The company also uses recycled water in its production process and has a green purchasing policy. In addition to toilets, Toto produces bathtubs and faucets and hand dryers that are more energy efficient than typical models.

The first Toto museum opened in the year 2015. It hosts exhibits on Toto’s seminal products as well as their evolution, group companies (all of which are made from ceramics), the history of plumbing, and products such as bath units. In another gallery, visitors can see Toto products that are sold throughout. The museum has the bathroom equipped with a WASHLET and other toilet innovations.

Before the formation of Toto members of the group did sessions for a variety of musicians. Boz Scaggs' album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich as well as guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather and drummer Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also performed on albums by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.

    Discography

With a name as evocative as Asia you'd expect the group to be prog queens and kings however, it's actually a pretty straight forward rock group. The group was formed as four-piece, and released two albums that were self-titled in 1979 and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. The group has a diverse musical background, but their greatest success came in 1982 with Toto IV.

The album was a huge blockbuster but not without its issues. Record companies put the band on place with the directive "give us an album that's a smash or we'll drop you" and the pressure was on to deliver. Toto was able to achieve this with the help from the hit song "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery is a result of their prior experience since the members were session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts before starting the group. Their distinctive sound has become the standard for '80s music, influencing many contemporary artists.

The album begins hard with songs such as Running Out of Time or 스포츠토토 Unknown Soldier that show the band's ability to write great AOR tunes that slowly creep into your head. However, the album also includes some more mellow, jazzy tracks such as The Little Things and Chinatown. The album concludes with Great Expectations, a song that combines folk with distortion AOR and could sound completely wrong, but actually works wonderfully well.

After Toto IV, the band's fortunes started to plummet. David Hungate left the band to focus on his solo career and the band had several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band after drug charges. The band continued to play with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.

Despite the turmoil, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation however, which was not as successful as IV. The band managed to release an album that was chart-topping, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. This album marked the end of Toto's lineup and the debut of Simon Phillips, a new singer.

    Tours

The band has performed across the world, performing to an crowd of millions, with sold-out shows across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia and New Zealand. The band has a vast repertoire, and its catalog has been listened to more than one billion times on streaming services across the world. The band's music has influenced generations of fans.

Steve Lukather has forged a rich, deep friendship with Joe Williams that is flourishing professionally around the world. In 2018 the duo celebrated their 40th anniversary of Tours Around The Sun with an incredibly profitable global tour. The album with the same title ranked #5 on the Billboard 200. The band's latest tour includes their most popular hits and rarely-performed live deep cuts as well as some songs from Lukather's and Williams catalogs.

    Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was an attempt to return to the classic sextet format, and an even more consistent and powerful effort that had a more grittier edge. The more edgier sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the growth of the band. Bobby Kimball's growing virtuosity was reflected by the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. Keyboardist David Paich's work also was sharper, more intricate and less cloying than previously recorded performances.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live show in Amsterdam that was released as a set of two CDs entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released a brand new studio album a few months after and embarked on a tour around the world to support it. During this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.

In 1998, Paich and Lukather started looking through old demo tapes and tapes to make an album that would feature songs that were never recorded before. The album was released in 2001 as a duo album titled Then & Now. It was the first album in the band's history not to include any single song that had the word "A" in the title, and it also contained one previously unreleased track, "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth record, Old Is New was not a commercial success and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis, which limited his singing ability. Additionally, Hungate returned to Nashville as a drummer, and Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.

Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, 첫가입 꽁머니; you can try these out, the original members of Asia were in England early in 2006 to discuss the possibility that the band could be revived. This lineup, with the exception of Howe (who was working with Yes at the time), eventually became known as Toto XIV and toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band featured an appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.logo-logo.png
