If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jumpy chain link in the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
It's a bit tricky to test because there are various pins on the connector, and they all have different functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read approximately 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. If you're having issues with this component, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a massive drop in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, three were drenched in gazoline, the fourth one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when i turn the engine on without sparks, the three with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ I got zero ohm. So i assume the problem is in another place.
I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it is running fine with the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when it is unplugged, shows an ice temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is zero.
I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much all other possibilities out. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!
