The S7 MaxV Ultra is the only model equipped with an Empty Wash Fillet Dock (or an alternate Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its base, empty the collected debris into a dust bag or reservoir, drain the dirty water tank, and wash its mopping pads.

The S7's sensors work together to stay clear of obstacles and clean floors. It can detect the types of floors and save a map of rooms and zones. It can even determine dirt levels. It's also capable of scheduling and executing spot-cleaning sessions. It was able to perform well in the standard tests, but did not perform as well as the Roomba j7+ for the carpet deep cleaning test.

You can program the S7 by using the companion app to run a cleaning routine in accordance with your schedule. You can choose the cleaning mode like eco or automatic, and the day, week or even a time. There's not much to dislike about the Shark IQ XL, although it does feel slightly less well-built than the Roomba 694. It's good in cleaning carpeted floors however, it isn't as efficient as the iRobot Roomba i7 when it comes to bare floor performance. The i7 is also more robust, feels more durable and robust, has less demanding maintenance requirements, incurs lower recurring costs, charges faster while offering comparable battery performance, and comes with much more advanced automation features such as no-go zones and the ability to pick specific rooms to keep clean.

iRobot j7+

You can easily create a cleaning schedule and alter the way that dust is cleaned when the canister is full. The j7+ can be controlled by voice assistants (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc.) The app lets you create and view maps in your home.

In our tests, we found that the j7+ performed admirably on both hard and carpeted floors, and it cleaned up most of the dirt we threw at it. It isn't able to deal dealing with pet hair, large debris and sand. But it is able to clean them with a little more effort. It has good navigational abilities and two cliff sensors to stop it from falling down the stairs or getting stuck on furniture legs.

The J7+ has some minor flaws. One of them is that it can get stuck on cords or rugs and it doesn't always turn off the mopping function when it's finished vacuuming. This is a great model that ticks off all the boxes.

iRobot's j7+ also comes with one of the top self-emptying systems we've tested. It puts its 14oz 0.4-liter dust container into the base station, where it automatically empties itself for you. This reduces the amount of garbage you need to dispose of. You will only have to replace the dust disposal bag on the dock every 60 days, based on the frequency you use the J7+.
