Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is on what you would expect from a French door fridge that costs this much. They're easy to open and close, but I found their plastic textured coatings to be a bit rough on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes the full suite of features you'd expect from a fridge at this price, including Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app is available for iOS and Android devices and allows you to manage your refrigerator from anywhere across the globe. It also has many options for customization. It will also send notifications when the door is left unlocked as well as when the fridge or freezer requires defrosting, and when the filter has to be changed.

It would be nice to have GE PYE22PYNFS offered Precise fill the option that is available in a handful of GE refrigerators that allow users to choose how many cups they want to disperse. It does have a countdown feature on the fridge's display to display how much water have left, but it's not as useful as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a French door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune this Frigidaire is a solid option. It's a minimalist design that isn't as striking visually as other models however it comes with enough features to make it a solid choice. Its most important feature, the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food items like vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a large ice maker and a water dispenser.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you divert part of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can store foods that require extra attention. This feature can be adjusted using an outside slider that is located inside the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I have found that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

During my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator stayed fairly consistent across different areas of the fridge. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray much from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a solid performance, but it doesn't quite make it to the top of our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also pair this fridge with a smart thermometer to get more precise measurements of your fridge's temperature.
